Wednesday 14 January, 8am - 4pm at DCA Mudul-ma Community Art Room, Coconut Grove

An introduction to traditional botanical illustration and creative ways to draw plants!

Workshop projects:

  • Drawing plants – students will be shown step-by-step processes for drawing plants, flowers, cactuses and fungi. Explore a range of drawing techniques in graphite, ink, marker, and coloured pencil.

  • Introduction to traditional botanical illustration, drawing from life, and watercolour techniques

  • Coloured pencil on wooden panel – students will be shown techniques for drawing on wood, and will have the opportunity to design their own flora-inspired art piece

Best suited to children and young people aged 7-14 years.

Drop off: permitted from 7.40am, with the workshop officially starting at 8am.

Pick up: workshop sessions will be completed by 3.30pm. Flexible pick up available between 3.30-4.15pm.

  • This workshop is held at Darwin Visual Arts, Mudul-ma Community Art Room, 2/1 Travers St, Coconut Grove

  • All materials provided - enjoy experimenting with a range of artist quality materials!

  • Please bring your lunch, drink bottle, and snacks (pack as if you’re going to school!)

  • Beginner friendly – grow your skills and socialise with other students

  • Please wear clothes that are suitable for art making – sometimes things get messy!
